As individuals, we need to accept responsibility for ourselves. By following a few basic principles we are more likely to adopt and inspire a higher level of passion and energy in ourselves and those around us.

Attend to the present moment
"Only when we truly understand what living in the moment is all about, may we learn that living in the moment is all we ever needed."
Many of us spend much of our time either dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Everything we need is waiting for us right here and now in this moment. A conscious breath can be all it takes to bring you back to the present moment. Our breath reminds us where we are and who we are. It relaxes us and helps us connect with our true self. You will find a simple breathing technique in my Blog page or there are many other techniques available. Daily meditation is also a great way to connect with the present moment.
Maintain a positive outlook
"The law of attraction states you attract what you are, not what you want."
In simple terms, a pessimist tends to attract negative outcomes and an optimist will often attract a positive one. If all you see is the negative, you will continue to attract the negative. If you see the positive, you will attract more of the positive. Remember that the sun is always shining whether you see it or not. If it does get cloudy, keep an eye out for the silver lining. Always try to find something positive in every situation and before long you will become the kind of person that attracts positive outcomes more often than not.
Learn from your mistakes
Don’t dwell on them. Mistakes belong in the past. Don’t carry them with you into the future. A mistake is only a mistake if you've learnt nothing from it. So learn your lesson and move on.
Do what makes you prosper
Be passionate about what you do. Whether we’re talking at a business or individual level, it is important to engage yourself in ideas that fit your values and strengths. There is no point working for an organisation that goes against everything you believe in. If possible, define a value in what you do which fits with your lifestyle. Be proud of what you do, or else do something that makes you proud.
Time Management
There are so many benefits of time management which can lead to a happier and more relaxed person. A good time management system will create time rather than take it away. It will also make you a more effective manager. Time management is really about allocating your time more effectively. It’s about doing the right job at the right time. There are plenty of easy strategies to learn. Research the internet, take a course or read a book. I have even posted an easy to use strategy on my Blog page. I like to remind people that we can’t always get all of our jobs done and learning to be comfortable with that makes sense.
Letting go of the ego
There is a true you and there is an ego. One guides whilst the other controls. Only you can decide which will dominate you in your life. Learn to recognise the difference between the ego and your higher self. You can let go of anything that is not in alignment with your true essence. Learn to read and trust your instincts; this is one aspect of your higher self which is most obvious.
Stand true to reason
I could go into a lengthy debate as to what reason can mean, but the definition I subscribe to is; 'reason is the power of the mind to think, understand and form judgments logically'. If we are being guided by our higher self and our inner wisdom we will always find true reason. But that is not always as easy as it sounds. Trying to make the right decision, especially when under pressure, can be a huge challenge. A good tip to remember is that the best decision will always leave the least amount of residue within you. In short, the right decision should leave you feeling good.
Understanding emotions
Emotions can be summed up into two emotions; Love and fear. When we learn to recognise and distinguish between the two we learn to make better decisions in our lives. When fear is chosen we feel a weight pulling us back from the situation. When we choose love we can expect to feel light and free. Fear is controlling. Love is freedom. We are given the opportunity to choose between the two every in every moment of our lives. Love may not be a word you typically associate with work but it can and should be.
Confidence
People can vary a great deal by the level of confidence they have. Not that cocky type of confidence that makes you think you’re better than everyone else. True confidence is about believing in yourself as an individual. It’s true confidence which measures the success of your business. Believing in yourself means you can accept that you are both competent and capable.
Give more, expect less
One of the greatest sources of happiness is making other people happy. Live to serve others without expectation and your life will change for the better. Try it! You will experience an instant reaction and discover a great feeling.
